Neurotypical – Someone’s who’s cognitive processes developmental milestones and behaviors are considered typical for the majority of the population often making it easier to navigate social situations and daily tasks within in a society designed for these standards.
 
Neurodivergent – People who have a brain that functions differently from what is considered typical or neurotypical which can affect how they process information, learn, socialize and behave.
 
As many of you know, I am a mom of a toddler who has severe autism and I also have ADHD. I exist in a world where I am constantly begging the neurotypical world to accept our differences and provide us with resources that can help us succeed. It is often so isolating to be othered because of something you can’t control. As people with disabilities, we are often made fun of or left out because of our needs. I created this shirt to give other neurodivergent people an opportunity to feel cool and proud to be different. What if society is approaching this all wrong? What if the real definition of cool is to not have a brain that works like everyone else? What if not understanding social cues means we get to exist in a world where we don’t have to pretend to be anything but who we actually are? I think that’s pretty fucking cool and I am proud to create something that people like us can feel proud to wear.
